A Community of Prayer Champions, Praying Churches, Prayed-for Communities

Prayer is the greatest and lasting gift we can give our families. Material things are needed but they are temporary. Our prayers can be lasting and will have a ripple effect to our grandchildren and future generations.

I found a letter in my family archives written by my great-grandfather in Poland to my grandfather who had immigrated to America. In the letter, he wrote that he was praying for my grandfather and his future generations. What a blessing it was for me to see in writing that my great-grandfather had prayed for me before I was born.  His prayers had a ripple effect on my life and my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

As grandparents, let’s deliberately pray for our children and grandchildren. As we invest in our own walk with the Lord, we are investing in the lives of our grandchildren and future generations. Let’s watch the ripple effect in our families, just as our grandkids enjoy the ripple effect when they throw rocks into the water.

Ask yourself:

ï What kind of spiritual impact do I have on my family members?

ï Am I leaving a ripple effect with my prayers for my family?

You can make a ripple effect on your family by participating and encouraging other grandparents to make the National Grandparents Day on September 7 a Day of Prayer for your grandchildren and their parents. For additional information go to
