Revivval Manifesto #01

HAB 3:2

Our standpoint and the way ahead

On reading the manifesto:

This item will require a little extra from its reader as it is a compact, concentrated text. Each sentence contains large volumes of spiritual reality and are statements produced to capture a great wealth of ideas and thoughts. Therefore, we ask the reader to read slowly, read several times, to meditate and pray and to consider the written word to be a path of… Continue

Praying for Rain

With over a million acres charred by wind-swept wild fires, the state’s governor has asked Texans to pray for rain. Is it right to pray for rain? While it needs no political personality to make the call, praying for rain is biblical. Elijah prayed for rain and God sent rain (James 5:17-18). The Psalmist implied we should make the desires of our heart known to God (Ps. 37:4). The writer of Hebrews suggested that we could go “boldly to the throne of grace” (Heb. 4:16). While it is true that God… Continue

One Little Girl's Prayer Closet

Whenever she opened the closet door, she imagined stepping into another world. It felt safe there. It was one of the few places that she ever felt safe. To most people this room would have had no appeal. The floor was covered with cracked, dirty linoleum, but she imagined a fine, plush, golden carpet. The air was filled with dust and the smell of moth balls, but she imagined spring flowers and fresh air. The walls were made of a pale, pink plaster which was cracked and peeling. But…

He is Risen, He is Risen Indeed!

As we prepare to celebrate Easter and the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, our hearts are turned toward a hill on calvary where He laid down His life for the sins of the world.

Jesus came into the world as a man for one specific purpose. He came to bridge the gap between sinful man and a righteous, holy God. Without Him and His…

There I will meet. . . # 02

A gathering of the interceding Church for the purpose of unreserved commitment and explicit agreement. . .

Ex 29:42-43

Why do you not speak a word about bringing the king back? 2 Sam 19:10.

Prepare ye in the wilderness the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Isa 40:3.

For all seek their own, not the things which are of Jesus Christ. Phil 2:21.

The activities of the Kingdom of Heaven are in many… Continue

special prayer need for a young boy with head trauma, followed by 'neuro storms'

A young boy, Jesse, has experienced many difficulties in his short life.  Recently, he experienced another trauma which landed him in a coma, in ICU on a respirator. Thanks to God’s gracious miracle for this precious life – Jesse came through this trauma but he now suffers what’s called ‘neuro storms’. (You can read about them online.) Jesse’s brain needs the soft touch of the Great Healer to eliminate these neuro storms so he can move forward with rehabilitation. Jesse has escaped death twice.… Continue

Hey Pastor! (please forward)

Dear Pastor:

I’m writing to make you aware of a special opportunity for you to experience what for many will be an especially needed time for personal renewal.

Are you weary from the constant pressures of normal ministry where you are giving and going, teaching and preaching, administering and counseling, mobilizing and leading, loving and serving with little time to recharge your own spiritual batteries? This year…

Empowering Kids to Pray

Do the children in your church know that their prayers are as important as adults’ prayers?
Until recently, it never occurred to me that children might not know how much their prayers matter. But a couple of weeks ago I heard about a church in South Africa that was a bit surprised when, after inviting the children to intercede for one another one Sunday, the children felt empowered.  “Usually only adults pray for each other in church,” the children’s pastor pointed out, but this…

Brief prayer

While I struggle to pray as much as I intend to pray for family, I was reminded recently, that God hears any and all of our prayers. I have prayed the briefest of prayers for the company sales staff. "Lord be with ..... " naming each "today as they go about their job." Sometimes I add more, but mostly it is just that.

And God hears and answers the prayers I have prayed because He impressed me to pray for them. Sometimes it feels like I should be much more wordy, elaborate and…

Waves of Grief

Most of us have heard about the stages of grief. I think there's denial, anger, depression...and I can't remember the others. So far I've definitely experienced those three. I remember at my brother's funeral I kept telling people, "This is wrong. We are not supposed to be here. My brother is NOT supposed to be in that casket." The day after the funeral I went back to the grave and just stood there, staring at it, trying… Continue

As Prayer Warriors, we understand how important prayer is to our survival in this world.  God has called us to a mighty task.  As Prayer Warriors called by God, we must see our need for spiritual cleansing.  It is important for us to understand that as Prayer Warriors we can do nothing apart from God Almighty.  He is our SOURCE. …

It Seems To Me . . . (36 + 1)

It Seems To Me . . .

. . we need 36 plus 1!

Like many of you, I receive dozens of e-newsletters. Not because I like to brag about how many emails I get in a day, but in order to keep current with the fresh thought and best practices of Christian leadership. E-newsletters from prayer leaders (of course), vision-casters, leadership-trainers, writers, thinkers, and doers . . . revealing how the Holy Spirit continues to inspire and instruct and even redirect…

Think Small, Dream Big

 The Power of Small

(From an upcoming book by Jennifer Kennedy Dean, release date August 2011)

Like Alice’s adventures in Looking Glass Land, where everything she encountered was mirror-image opposite of what she thought to be true, the Kingdom of Heaven seems upside down and inside out when we first enter. Learning its biosphere and how to navigate its landscape becomes the adventure that…
