2 Corinthians 10:3-6 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, 4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, 6 and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.
Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
How To Begin a Reimagine Journey [My Tweet-Sized (280 characters) suggestion]
Praying for Progeny is designed to encourage, facilitate and equip for more effective and consistent prayer for our children, grandchildren, spiritual children—whether young children or adult children.
The battle is for our children. We can see the results of the battle being waged against believers. However prayer is a potent weapon against our enemy, Satan. God offers hope and freedom for children.
The battle is also for parents. One trend we found as we began to pray was that parents, grandparents and spiritual parents often experience guilt, shame, worry or anxiety about our young or adult children. God offers hope and freedom for parents as well.
Praying for Progeny was formed in January 2017 to gather parents to pray and battle for their children and to look to God for the hope and freedom He offers hurting parents.
Why do we call it praying for progeny?
We found some children of committed believers were walking away from God and "prodigal" was often the word used for them.
But, we also saw the onslaught of our enemy upon our children who were professing faith in Christ and trying to walk with the Lord.
Both the “prodigal” and the “professing” believer were in need of our prayers. Even our “prodigies” who are given exceptional abilities or talent need our prayer.
So, we chose the word "progeny" because it means descendants, offspring, those who come after. The word “progeny” covers:
1. our "prodigal" children who are walking away from the Lord
2. our “professing” children who are trying to live out their faith in Christ
3. Our young children
4. Our adult children
5. Our grandchildren
6. Our spiritual children
WHY? is it important for the Church to #ReimaginePRAYER?
The Church is in relationship with Jesus and communication with Jesus is foremost in starting and maintaining this relationship.
