Week 1, Day 11: Saturday, Feb. 20

Father, please draw people who are spiritually thirsty and hungry to your Son.  Dim the distracting voices of the world so that they can hear Jesus calling them to eternal life.  Make of your church a source of healing for people and systems that are broken - an agent of transformation both in the lives of individuals and in our society.  Make of your people conduits of your grace and of your life to those who are currently far from you.

Lord God, thank you for the many ministries you have raised up to come alongside churches and proclaim your grace and healing.  You have created such variety in your Church!  Thank you for reminding us that the Church isn't just where church buildings are but is anywhere that your people are reaching out with your love and grace.  Anoint these ministries with your power and provide for them the resources - funds and people - that they need in order to carry out your mission for them.  Encourage the workers who serve in these ministries.  Ground them firmly in the truth of your word and grant fruit to their service.

Lord of the Nations, please let your grace and truth flow through the United States.  Forgive us for taking you so lightly.  As a nation, forgive our waywardness and call us once again back to yourself.  Be in the midst of all the campaigns and elections this year, raising up leaders who will serve the people wholeheartedly, who know you and who will move this country back once again toward a country of faith.  Revive your church in the US - convict us of nominalism, materialism, and worldliness and cleanse us of these things so that we may seek you and proclaim you with all our hearts, minds, souls, and strength.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

Week 2, Day 13: Monday, Feb. 22

Father, please open the eyes of those who have been blinded to their spiritual condition.  Shine your light on the lies of false religion, materialism, atheism - all the belief systems that men have invented.  Don't let the lost in our community continue to wander in their lostness.  Give them a strong desire to know the truth and a sense of urgency to seek you.  Lord Jesus, reach them with your compassion and grace.  No one can come to the Father but by you, for you are the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  Call to yourself many in our community who have lost their way, who don't know the truth, and who don't have life.  Give them faith to believe in you and to follow you wholeheartedly.

Father, please look with compassion, kindness and mercy on refugees in our country and around the world.  Raise your hand to intervene in situations of violence and persecution that have caused families to be separated; change the times and situations so that they can be reunited.  For those refugees that have come from lands where the Gospel is not freely proclaimed, move them into situations where they can hear and receive the truth of your word, and raise up believers to proclaim your word to them.  Raise up your church to reach out to refugees in all our communities, so that your compassion may be known widely.

Lord of the nations, please continue to build, strengthen, and extend your church in China.  Thank you for both the underground church and the registered church - for all the means by which the Gospel is proclaimed and you are worshipped and honored.  Please continue to break down the gates of hell erected against your church in that great country - gates erected politically, socially, culturally, economically.  Reveal yourself to every people group in the country of China, and raise up for yourself a vibrant, witnessing church in each one.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

Week 2, Day 14: Tuesday, Feb. 23

Father, please deliver those in our community who are held in bondage and afflicted by demonic powers.  Particularly in the area of Bull Run, Lord, drive out the forces of darkness.  Shine your light in that darkness in a way that the darkness cannot overcome.  Free those enslaved to satanic and occultic powers.  Lord Jesus, as you cast out demons when you were here, through your Holy Spirit do that again over and over, freeing the enslaved for a life of knowing and loving you.

Father, thank you for the pastors and church leaders that you have raised up in our city.  Please guide and guard their lives.  Lead them not into temptation, Lord, but deliver them from all kinds of evil - from evil people, from a sinful world, from the evil one himself.  Protect their families and grant them a special blessing of your favor for the sacrifices they make.  Grow our leaders in spiritual depth, knowledge and practice of your word, and use of the spiritual gifts you have given them.  Grow them also in fellowship and unity with leaders from multiple other churches, that your body may be one in honoring you and reaching out to the lost and needy.

Lord of the nations, please reign over the great nation of India.  Protect the believers there from persecution by Muslims and Hindus.  Let the light of your word shine in every caste, every people group in India.  Please especially show your favor to members of the lower castes, who don't have the economic or social advantages of others.  Let them know their tremendous value in your eyes.  Use the caste system itself as a means of drawing people to you, longing for love that isn't conditional based on position in society.  Grant fruit to the work of the missionaries and churches in India.  Sweep this land with a great revival, that your name may be known and worshiped from border to border.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

Week 2, Day 15 - Wednesday, Feb. 24

Father, we praise you because you are the God of light.  You made the light shine in the darkness in creation, and you did that again in sending your Son.  Please shine your light into the darkness of the lives of those who live in rebellion against you.  Overcome the power of evil in their lives by the even greater power of your grace.  Move them away from paths of sin and on to the path that leads to salvation.  Show those in darkness that the only true hope is in your Son Jesus.

Please also enable your church to live fully in the light.  Draw believers into your word, for your word is truth.  Give us the wisdom and the discipline to put that truth into practice, that your light may shine through us to the non-believers around us.

Lord Jesus, please come into the lives of prisoners in our county and across our state.  Call them out of the lives of darkness that led them there and into lives that will be very different when they leave.  Turn them around - prepare new paths, new friendships, new patterns for them.  Keep those who are being released or have just been released from falling back into the old ways.  Bring an end to habits, activities, and relationships that have led them into evil.   Lead them not into temptation.  Be with the families of those in prison, caring for them materially and drawing them to you.

Lord of the nations, thank you for the amazing triumph of your church in South Korea.  Thank you for the hundreds of thousands who devote themselves to prayer, for the spread of the gospel, and for the light that shines forth from that great country.  Please prepare a way for believers in South Korea to spread the gospel into North Korea, China, and other more restricted lands in Asia.  And please use the example of the praying churches in South Korea to challenge churches here in the US to greater commitments to prayer as the central aspect of our ministry.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

Week 2, Day 16 - Thursday, Feb. 25

Father, we are so blessed to have your word so accessible in this country.  We can buy Bibles in any bookstore, read or listen to the Scriptures on the internet, turn on the television and see Christian programming at just about any time, listen to Christian radio 24 hours a day.  So many places in the world are so hungry for just a portion of your word, and we are blessed with such an abundance!

Forgive us as a nation, Lord, for taking your word for granted.  We ignore it, despise it, disbelieve it, and even try to remove it from public life.  Where other peoples long for it like deer panting for water, we turn our heads away.  We deserve your wrath, Father, but we plead for your mercy.

Restore in our country a hunger for your word. Cause your word to once again be revered - not just within church walls, but in our society as a whole. Let not the abundance and availability of your word cause us to devalue it - just the opposite, Lord, give people who are far from you a hunger to know the truth, and cause them to seek that truth in your word.

Place your word at the center of all the churches and at the center of the lives of Christian families. Lead us to read your word together, and illuminate our minds by your Spirit. Give us wisdom to understand what we read, and love for you to obey what we understand.

Father, may your Spirit sweep through our colleges and universities, changing lives, renewing hearts and minds.  Replace the cynicism toward you with an understanding of your love and grace. Confound the words of professors who teach what is contrary to the truth. Strengthen Christian groups on our college campuses.  Revive our students and raise up strong movements of evangelism, prayer, and missions. Prepare the next generation of leaders for your church and for our country through campus groups like InterVarsity, Navigators, Campus Crusade, and others. Especially for students who are away from home, guard their paths and guide their relationships, activities, and behaviors.  Be known widely across our campuses.

Lord of the nations, please make yourself known in every corner of Mongolia. Send forth your word to the many people groups who are unaware of you.  Raise up workers for the harvest fields among the nomads, the Kazakhs, ethnic minorities, and college students. Please strengthen and grant wisdom to the groups working on translating your Word, and use the JESUS film to bring many to you through the story of the life of your Son. Thank you for the Christian broadcasts on both radio and television; please grant fruit in the form of changed and transformed hearts and lives.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

Week 1, Day 17 - Friday, Feb. 26

Lord Jesus, please reveal yourself to those who have kept their distance from you.  Break through barriers of ignorance by showing them who you really are through your word.  For those who have been taught lies about you, reveal the truth to them.  For those who have blamed God for their circumstances or for failing to meet their needs, show them how sufficient is your grace for their biggest need of all - the need of salvation.  For those who have allowed the world to convince them that they're "OK", reveal to them their sin and their need for a Savior.  Break down whatever barriers lie in the way of those in our community who desperately need to know you.

Jesus, in your earthly ministry you responded with mercy, grace, and kindness to the sick and disabled.  You healed so many of them, often touching more than just their physical bodies.  And your work in their lives confronted both them and those who knew them with the reality that you are God.  Please do the same in our day.  Bring healing to those who need it in such a way that they must acknowledge who you are, and make of them a testimony to your grace and mercy. Provide for those who are sick, injured, or otherwise disabled - provide for them financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Bring around them friends and family to help them, and make of your church an agent of your compassion toward them.  Hear the prayers of those who cry out for their healing, and bring honor to yourself by restoring them.

Lord of the nations, please intervene in Pakistan to raise up a stable, competent government capable of moving the country forward.  Raise up wise leaders with servants' hearts.  Cleanse the government from corruption and power seekers.  Please ease the tensions with Afghanistan and India.  Protect Pakistan from the Taliban and other extremists who have set themselves against you.  And Lord, I pray for my friend Sohail from Pakistan.  Reveal yourself to him as not just a prophet, but as the true Son of God. Open doors of opportunity for witness to him, and prepare the soil of his heart to hear and receive your word.  Amen.

Week 2, Day 18 - Saturday, Feb. 27

Lord Jesus, please shine your light into the dark places in our community.  Shine into places that are devoid of hope and meaning.  Shine into places of despair, of drudgery, of cynicism, of rebellion.  We agree with your word that men love the darkness, Lord - but give grace to those far from you in our community and cause them to love the light.

May your mercy and kindness draw people to yourself, Lord.  Reveal that mercy and kindness through the compassion of your people and through visiting those who need you with your healing, provision, guidance, and comfort.  Show those in our community who are far from you that you really do know them and care about them.

Father, may your special blessing fall on the mothers in our community today. Strengthen them for the many tasks they perform, and honor them in the eyes of their families. Bless them with the favor of their husbands and children. Protect them from the deceptions of our culture that devalue and seek to redefine motherhood.  Please specially bless single mothers as well - give them a sense of your provision, protection, and presence.

Lord of the Nations, please let your light shine in the countries of Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tibet, Timor Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Vietnam, Wallis and Futuna.  Strengthen and bless your church in these lands.  Make of your church not a reservoir but a channel through which your blessings flow to the people, drawing those who are far from you near to your presence. Send forth your word in printed and oral form to every people group in these countries, and raise up a vibrant, witnessing church for each group. Grant to national and local governments minds of wisdom and hearts of servanthood. May your abundance flow through each of these countries to every nation, tribe, and language among them.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

Week 2, Day 19: Sunday, Feb. 28

Father, please make of your people walking and talking testimonies of your grace and love.  Show us how to tell the story of your work in our lives - stories that will reach people and touch their hearts and minds.  Remind us often of your grace in our lives, so that we have those stories ready to tell.  Make us read in season and out of season, always prepared to give a reason for the hope that is in us.

Reveal yourself, Lord, to those who have turned their backs on you.  Reveal yourself not just through our stories, but through your kindness and grace to them.  Reveal yourself through circumstances in their lives.  Reveal yourself through miracles, dreams, and visions.  God, you know how each person needs to experience you - what they need to see and know in order to come to faith in you.  Meet each one in exactly the way they need to experience you.

Father, please reveal yourself as the source of every good gift.  Break down the tendency of people to see the good in their lives as results of random chance or of their own works. Lead those who are far from you to recognize that they need you and depend on you.

Father, the hearts of kings are in your hands. Reveal yourself to our government leaders so as to guide their leadership. Guide their decisions with your wisdom, give them hearts of servanthood, cause them to lead in righteousness and integrity.  Keep yourself in the forefront of their hearts and minds. Turn those who have set themselves against you so that they become supporters of the Gospel. Cause them to lead and decide in ways that will promote righteousness in our city.

Lord of the Nations, please proclaim your word throughout the nations of Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, and the Cape Verde Islands.  Raise up workers for the fields ripe for harvest.  Bring about the translation of your word into every language in these countries.  Raise up vibrant churches among every people group.  Hasten the coming of your kingdom through the spread of your word.  Amen.

Week 3, Day 20: Monday, Feb. 29

Father, your word promises that if we confess our sins you are faithful and just and will forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  Examine the hearts of your people, Lord.  Test us and know our anxious thoughts.  Surface the offensive ways in us - bring them to our attention, Lord.  Don't let us continue blindly down paths of sin, ignoring or justifying or minimizing it.  Instead, call us afresh to your holiness.  Give us hearts of contrition and repentance.  Forgive us and cleanse us, so that your name may be honored through our lives in the eyes of the non-believers around us. Restore us to our first love; renew in us the joy of your salvation, and give us a sense of urgency that others may know that salvation.

Father, please call many members of the media - whether broadcast, internet, or print - to yourself. Lead them to report the truth in love. Remove biases and give them an increasing sense of servanthood for their audiences. Fill our media with integrity, righteousness, and truth. Shine with your favor on members of media who know you and who carry out their duties as working for you. So bless them that others will see their actions and glorify you.

Lord of the Nations, please grant wisdom, courage, and integrity to the leaders of Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Zaire, Cote d'Ivoire, and Djibouti. Turn the hearts of these leaders to yourself. Where it's needed, replace pride with humility, corruption with integrity, greed with compassion. Raise up leaders who will lead from hearts of servanthood and who will seek your wisdom. Enable them to see and understand the needs of those they serve.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

Week 3, Day 21: Tuesday, Mar. 01

Father, we praise you as the God who hears and answers prayer.  You took the initiative in sending your Son to die for us while we were still sinners.  And you take the initiative today in leading people to seek you out in prayer.  Hear the prayers of the lost in our communities today, Lord.  Reveal yourself in answer to their prayers - reveal yourself so that they may know that you are the One True God.  Reveal yourself so that they put their faith in you and in the One you sent.  Give them by your grace just the beginning of faith that they need to call out to you.  Hear, answer, save.

Please also find your people faithful in praying for the lost. Remind us regularly of family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors who don't know you. Place our hearts in a position of continual prayer before you.  Teach us how to pray for our loved ones who are lost.  And hear those prayers, also, Lord - hear and respond.

Lord God, you have always had a special place in your heart for orphans. Please look with your favor on the orphans in our city. Protect them from abuse of all kinds. Give them a sense of belonging in you. Cause them to look to you for love, acceptance, a future and a hope. Please have mercy on orphaned siblings to keep them together in adoption. Find loving families for those who need them. Guide the paths of those who have aged out of the orphan/adoption system.  Most of all, bring them to yourself. Surround them with people who know and love you and who will be channels of your love and blessing to them.

Lord of the Nations, thank you for the relative freedom of religion in The Gambia and for the relative harmony between Muslims and Christians there. Please continue to protect this country from Islamic extremism and continue to provide open doors for the Gospel and the work of the church. Raise up a strong vision and passion for missions in the church, especially to reach the unreached in the interior of the country. May your word go forth to every corner of the Gambia, and may your church be planted in every people group.  Please hasten that day, Father.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

Week 3, Day 22: Wednesday, Mar. 02

Father, you are the God of gods and the King of kings.  You have caused rulers to bow before you - some like Nebuchadnezzar whom you had to humble, and others like the magi, who sought you out.  Wicked kings like Herod have feared you, while righteous kings have honored and worshiped you.  Please give the leaders in our country at every level - national, state, and local - the wisdom to honor you and the faith to know you.  Give your special wisdom and blessing to leaders who honor you and serve the people they lead with integrity and purity.  May your favor on those leaders draw others who do not know you to seek you.  Bless Christian leaders with courage to stand openly for you.

God, please bless business leaders who base their practices in righteousness.  Bless employers who treat their employees with dignity, honesty, and fairness.  Bless decision makers who put integrity first.  Honor businesses like Hobby Lobby and Chick Fil-a who take a stand for you. Materially bless those businesses who will in turn channel your blessings into society.  Raise up creative, godly entrepreneurs.  Frustrate those who pursue dishonest gain.  May you be known far and wide in the marketplace, Lord.

Lord of the Nations, please raise up leaders of integrity and courage in Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, and Mauritius. Bless those leaders who are following you - bless them with wisdom to govern their people and with compassion for those in need.  Bless them with the resources they need to take care of the people you have placed in their care. Grant them the humility that Solomon had in his early days when he asked who could rule a people like Israel. Draw near to them and draw them near to you. Give each one a sense of who you are and cause them to rule in ways that open doors for the Gospel throughout their lands.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

Week 3, Day 23: Thursday, Mar. 03

Father, please let the word of your goodness spread - from family member to family member, from house to house, neighborhood to neighborhood, until you are known throughout our city. Touch every people group with the story of your love and grace. Bring people who might not ordinarily come into contact with the Gospel face-to-face with the evidence of your grace, so that they might come to know you. Touch visitors to our city with a sense of your presence. Dispel evil from every corner of our city, so that you are known and worshiped in each community.

Please guard the hearts and minds of men in our city. Give them a sense of identity that stems not from position, power, job, or wealth, but from you. Cause them to find their worth in knowing that they are your children. Empower Christian men to lead their households spiritually with humility, servanthood, and grace. Grant sweet fellowship and community among believing men in our city. Protect their paths from temptation and fill their hearts and minds with a desire to know you more clearly and follow you more nearly.

Lord of the Nations, please protect the people of Nigeria from Islamic extremism and from violence at the hands of Boko Haram and others who would seek to harm your people. Restore this country to the relative stability they have enjoyed recently. Bring down those who would destroy the peace and who would persecute your people. Raise up strong leadership in the country who will courageously stand against terrorism and violence. Open the doors for your word to spread throughout this country to every people, tribe, and language.

In Jesus' name. Amen.
