Greetings prayer partners,
With a little more than 65 days until Pentecost, May 23, 2010, excitement is building all around the globe. Many nations are busy mobilizing their countries and communities with reports coming in of growing numbers of events. The international office of the Global Day of Prayer recently said, “Currently we have 162 nations registered. We continue to believe that we will see every nation participate in the GDOP on May 23, 2010, as we did in 2009.”
It is not too late to begin casting the vision afresh among local leaders. Simple gatherings are not too difficult to organize even with short lead-time. Here in the US, many cities began their planning for 2010 immediately after the 2009 gathering. This is more than a one-day event. The prayer topics for this year are compelling, clear and critically important. The call of hope from the book of Joel is remarkably pertinent for this hour. Remember that the process of deepening relationships between leaders and people of different churches is far more important than the actual event. We rejoice to hear reports of many thousands gathering in some cities. It's even more significant when believers press on to pray, serve and obey Christ in these crucial days, even if their observances seem meager compared with other gatherings.
Please do not delay in registering your intentions to organize any kind of community observance of the GDOP at http://www.gdopusa.com
. When you register online, your event will be listed among the many others in our nation, and this will help encourage Christians in your area to join with you.
It's refreshing to recognize that the simple focus of the Global Day of Prayer is the glory of Christ and His transforming work to bring about the blessing of the nations. Toward this end we pray, and for His glory we are working.
For His glory,
Global Day of Prayer
