Psalm 26:1-5 Of David. Vindicate me, O LORD, for I have walked in my integrity, and I have trusted in the LORD without wavering. Prove me, O LORD, and try me; test my heart and my mind. For your steadfast love is before my eyes, and I walk in your faithfulness. I do not sit with men of falsehood, nor do I consort with hypocrites. I hate the assembly of evildoers, and I will not sit with the wicked.
David can make these positive statements, Lord, but I cannot. I don't need proving, I need improving. I don't need the testing of an assay to prove my worth; I need a quality control test to highlight my shortcomings. I need the continued teaching and leading of the Holy Spirit to rasp away at the flaws of my nature, to grind at those affections that stand between me and faithful obedience. Thank You, Lord, that I can come to You, pleading for relief, knowing that You take pleasure in seeing this child of Yours learn to walk in Your Kingdom.
