A Community of Prayer Champions, Praying Churches, Prayed-for Communities
"Who prays for YOUR backyard?"
As our prayer team disembarked the plane that brought us home to DFW from a Washington, DC prayer assignment a few years ago, I heard this question from the Holy Spirit. I asked "what?" "You heard me, WHO prays for YOUR backyard?" My first thought was "this is a trick question Lord." Then He showed me that often, as intercessors, the headlines catch our attention and that is where much of our prayers are targeted, and it is often national and…

This is the final blog I will enter on Pray Network. I will miss it, but I will continue to thank God for all that God has done through it.
I have written a great deal in the past about praying great prayers. And I still believe they are terribly important. I have said, “I have cancer. I don’t want to spend my time praying for a better parking place at the Old Country Buffet.”
However, it is important to pray for small things as well.…

Have you ever felt you needed to slow your life down enough to pray? I have. I seem to be naturally in a hurry. Prayer calls me to slow down and rest, focus and commune with God. I have even felt the need to slow my prayers themselves down. Two weeks ago I made that as a commitment. So each day as I prayed through prayer lists and took needs to God, I told myself over and over again “Slow down.”…

Are you going through a season in your prayer life where you feel your prayers have become humdrum, repetitive, or pointless? We often go through such seasons when we get busy and neglect time in God’s Word, and then as a result our prayer life suffers.
That was my experience a number of years ago when I felt the prayers for my grandchildren were very general, rote,…

Patriot Praying or Kingdom Praying
Recently, I came across an article in the Connector, published by Intercessors for America. It was titled ‘A Warning from Macedonia’. Some of you, who have are on the Intercessors for America mailing list, may have seen it.
It raises an interesting question—are we trying to view control—possibly by encouraging adherence to our particular belief by a political candidate or party as the answer to our…

UPPER MESOPOTAMIA: CHRISTIANS AT THE MERCY OF ISIS
by Elizabeth Kendal
The Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham/Syria (ISIS) formally split from Al-Qaeda earlier this year over long-disputed matters of principle and strategy. (1) Regarding principle: Al-Qaeda's more seasoned leaders - the 'old guard' - are prepared to co-operate with Iran / Shi'ites in pursuit of higher goals. The 'young-guns' of…

The Christian Grandparenting Network (CGN) recognizes that these are desperate, challenging times, both morally and spiritually, necessitating a widespread call to grandparents to pray for their grandchildren.
Satan has launched an aggressive attack on all fronts using media, technology, education, social influences and political pressures to desensitize and cloud the boundaries of truth and righteousness that hold nations and…

Our pastor is preaching through the Sermon on the Mount on Sunday mornings. A few weeks ago he preached on the first Beatitude, “Blessed are the poor in Spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.” He pointed out that the word translated “poor” here means to be destitute. It can be used for a beggar who is absolutely dependent upon help from others. Poverty of Spirit is the heart of prayer.
We come to God because our help, our strength, our hope of salvation, our very lives…

SCOTLAND: FIGHTING A FLAWED LAW
by Elizabeth Kendal
The Government of Sudan continues to wage war against its non-Arab, non-Muslim people, with the aim of annihilating the predominantly Christian Nuba peoples of oil-rich South Kordofan. In Nigeria, Boko Haram is waging a full-scale terrorist insurgency in the north-east, targeting Christian towns and enclaves, abducting and massacring dozens…

HIMSELF
by A. B. Simpson
Once it was the blessing, Now it is the Lord;
Once it was the feeling, Now it is His Word.
Once His gifts I wanted, Now the Giver own;
Once I sought for healing, Now Himself alone.
Once 'twas painful trying, Now 'tis perfect trust;
Once a half…
