How to Pray for the Fallen

Posted on August 23, 2013 at 10:47am 0 Comments

I am copying this from my original post over at www.cityonitsknees.com.

This past week, a local youth leader of a ministry called The Basement here in Birmingham, AL was arrested a second time for impersonating a police officer. The fallout from the arrest will most likely be messy. People are very divided in their opinions about the situation. I debated and prayed for several days about whether or not to post anything, and…

The Pain of Separation

Posted on May 4, 2011 at 10:11pm 0 Comments

So we made it through our first "holiday" since Rusty died. For me, it had it's sad moments. It wasn't as hard as it could have been simply because I don't have a lot of recent memories of Rusty related to Easter. We just always ended up doing different things that day. However, there were several times, especially watching the kids hunt for eggs, that I got teary-eyed thinking how much he would have enjoyed watching them and how he would have added another whole… Continue

Waves of Grief

Posted on April 18, 2011 at 10:34pm 2 Comments

Most of us have heard about the stages of grief. I think there's denial, anger, depression...and I can't remember the others. So far I've definitely experienced those three. I remember at my brother's funeral I kept telling people, "This is wrong. We are not supposed to be here. My brother is NOT supposed to be in that casket." The day after the funeral I went back to the grave and just stood there, staring at it, trying… Continue

Make my day, Jennifer! Thanks so much for letting me know how the study is going for you.

Yes, there will be more. They will take a while to release--the second one (Knowing the God You Pray To--about how we pray according to the way we know God so knowing Him for who He really is is SO important and helpful!) will come out in about a year. I'm currently testing the third one (on prayer and Scripture--how Scripture helps us to pray in a personal, relational way). It will be released much further down the road.

Many blessings on your and your group. I'm so glad to hear about your experiences. Keep me in mind if you'd ever like someone to lead a prayer retreat on the ideas you're experiencing in that study. One of my favorite things to do!

Thanks for your comments, Jennifer. Yes, it felt GREAT!! And, I wasn't nearly as nervous as I thought I would be. God was definitely helping me through the nerves part! I do hope that if there is someone out there in my same situation that it struck a chord with them. Thanks again!
