What Makes Us Christian? 1 Reply

What is it that makes us Christian? I probably could ask, what is it that makes us the Church? To some extent they could be the same question, but I want to hear from you as we set ourselves to…Continue

I've never been involved in a small group study, although it sounds very interesting. I've been to several large Bible Study groups, especially Baptist Men's Meetings. However, I've never really been discipled and I don't know how to go about discipling someone else. My church needs help. Where can I start (after I finish praying)?

Judy, I went through a lot of Navigators stuff, including the 2:7 series. I miss this stuff and people who are interested/committed to going through it together.

Navigators are awesome in their helps for discipling and making disciples and disciplers. Try their 2:7 Series. Go to NavPress online, or click on Cindy's book at right upper of this page to get there.

I just received a copy of "Real-life Discipleship Training Manual". It's a great resource for training your leaders to disciple others. It is set up to work well as a small group study. I'm eager to use it but don't have the opportunity to do so at this point. What is your church currently doing in the area of discipleship?

Jenni,
Thank you for you comments, I think they are spot on. We must stop the confusion and become more than an inch deep. The very life of the church must revolve around discipleship. I visited a church recently that asked the question, Do you want to go deeper? This to me was a wonderful invitation to discipleship. It so permeated the life of the church until it was the question each individual was answering for them self.

Do you have other ideas that you could share?

I'm passionate about discipleship but find that so many either don't know what it is at all or they confuse it with Evangelism. Someone has said that the problem is that the church is a mile wide but only an inch deep.

Great emphasis on Evangelism got people saved but then what? How many of them were taught how to grow and become mature followers of Christ?
