A Community of Prayer Champions, Praying Churches, Prayed-for Communities

Love is frequently the topic of conversation during this week in February. Whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day or not, there is no mistaking that a day focused on love is coming. From jewelry commercials to candy in heart-shaped boxes, the thought and idea of love permeates our culture during the first part of February.

But what if we focused on love all year long? What if we took the principles of love and put them into practice during the month of June? Or September? Every day of the year? I don’t mean romantic love. I mean the kind of love that causes us to truly appreciate someone else. To be kind, to sacrifice self, give to others, and desire good things for someone else. Not just in our families, but in our workplaces, schools, churches, and communities.

That is exactly what this year’s theme of the National Day of Prayer is calling us to do. LOVE ONE ANOTHER is not just a theme for a day of prayer. It is a calling to each of us to put into practice principles of love every day. Our families need us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. Our workplaces need us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. America needs us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. The world needs us to LOVE ONE ANOTHER. It is a high calling, and one that has the potential to change not only our own personal circles, but America and the world.

Where will you pray with us on Thursday, May 2, 2019? Will you join a community gathering or host a gathering in your workplace? Will you attend or help host a gathering in your church? Join with others to pray for America and ask God for a LOVE ONE ANOTHER movement in our families, workplaces, cities, towns, states, and nation. Cry out to God with us on this day. Share with others using the image below and invite others to join you at a prayer gathering on Thursday, May 2.

We have never been where we are today as a nation. While division abounds in almost every segment of America, it is time to cry out to God in prayer for America. No longer can the people of God be silent before the Lord. We need to call out to God passionately and urgently until the glory of God is experienced in every corner of our nation.

Share these prayer needs with every spiritual leader, church, and Christ follower in America and across the world. Let’s come together and pray in agreement for these three urgent requests and prayer priorities in America.

“First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2

  • Father, we appeal to You for our President and Vice President, members of the Cabinet, along with the members of both the House and the Senate, to make decisions that will lead toward a more righteous, peaceful, and orderly America.
  • Lord, we also ask that these leaders lead us to ways that represent You and Your ways; including decisions that will lead toward the dignity and sanctity of all human life from conception until death.
  • Lord God, may these leaders provide ways for our nation to be secure from terrorism inside and outside of the borders of America.
  • Sovereign Eternal God, miraculously give unity of thought and strategy for the good of our nation between the White House, the United States House of Representatives, and the United States Senate.

“Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree in what you say, and that there be no divisions among you, and that you be united with the same understanding and the same conviction.” 1 Corinthians 1:10

  • Confess and repent of the sin of division in the Church of America, supported by the sins of skepticism, criticism, and cynicism; due to an arrogance toward brothers and sisters who may look different than us, and may believe something a little different than us about secondary matters of the faith.
  • God is calling His Church in America to unify upon the authority of the Bible and the centrality of Jesus Christ, the only Savior of the world. Ask God to move us back to these basic beliefs.
  • Ask God for thousands of local churches to unify as one body of Christ, agreeing together that God is our greatest need in America.
  • Call upon God for Jesus’ Church in America to walk in unity, harmony, and oneness, so His Church personifies, calls, and leads America to unity.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

  • Ask God to call His people to prayer in every town, city, and county in America on May 3.
  • Plead with God for His people in every town, city, and county to come together in humility to pray for America on the National Day of Prayer on May 3.
  • Appeal to God for the people of God in every town, city, and county to come together to seek the will of God above all turning from all sinful and evil ways.
  • Ask God to answer these prayers, speak to our nation, forgive our sins, and to bring healing to our lives, relationships, families, churches, businesses, schools, states, and all of America.
  • Ask God to empower the NDP staff and thousands of NDP volunteers with the power of the Holy Spirit as they lead thousands of prayer observances on the National Day of Prayer.
  • Appeal to God to supply the needed financial resources for the organization of the National Day of Prayer Task Force so this 2018 opportunity will be maximized.
  • Call upon the Lord to anoint powerfully and lead clearly Dr. Ronnie Floyd, the President of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, as he oversees the strategic leadership of this massive prayer movement on May 3, and the National Observance of the National Day of Prayer in Statuary Hall in the United States Capitol in Washington, DC, at 7:30 p.m. EDT.

Please share these three major requests for our nation with people from all across America and the world. We need massive prayer support. We must see the next Great Spiritual Awakening in our nation.

Now is the Time to Lead and to Pray for America,

By all accounts, the 67th Annual National Day of Prayer this past May 3rd was a huge success!

More than 1 million views on Facebook, an estimated 50,000-plus individual public prayer gatherings held in all 50 states, 200 countries reached via television broadcasts with the potential to reach over 1 billion people—these figures indicate the way God is using the National Day of Prayer to ignite a spiritual awakening across our land.

Thank you for all that you do to make the National Day of Prayer a reality—your prayers, your participation, and your financial support!

This day would also not be possible without the thousands of volunteers who plan and host events around the country. So I am writing today to ask for your continued prayers and financial gifts to support their critical efforts.

The National Day of Prayer would not be in every state without our volunteers, their tireless efforts to mobilize their communities to pray for unity and revival.

How do they do it? They work hard and are well prepared.

Part of that preparation comes through attending the Annual National Day of Prayer Leadership Summit. This year the Summit will be in Northwest Arkansas on October 29-30. At the Summit, I will share my vision for every town, city, and county to host a prayer observation on the National Day of Prayer in 2019. Our volunteers will participate in dynamic worship, Bible teaching and preaching from various national ministry leaders, and training sessions led by task force state and national leaders. It promises to be an inspiring and engaging two days! We will also be releasing the theme for the 2019 National Day of Prayer. For more information about the Summit, visit

These volunteers then go back to their communities and work with their local churches and community leaders to get the word out about the National Day of Prayer.

Did you know that there are over 400,000 churches and 200 denominations in the U.S.? What a daunting figure! But we must attempt to connect with each one if we are going to mobilize unified public prayer in every town, city, and county in our nation. And the best way we can connect to these churches is through our volunteers who are members of those churches or who know someone who is!

Our volunteers are essential to the success and impact of our May events. Equipping and mobilizing these volunteers and growing the number of National Day of Prayer observances takes tremendous financial resources. So, I write you today to ask for your financial support—to ensure that we have the best trained volunteers motivated to mobilize unified public prayer for America.

Will you join me in expanding the scope of the National Day of Prayer, 2019 by helping us expand our volunteer network?

Your gift today of $50 could sustain the training of one volunteer. $100 would equip two. $250 will support five. Think what tremendous impact just one volunteer will have if they mobilize their entire community to pray. That is how revivals start and are spread. That is how the Spirit works in and through us to reach everyone in every place.

Thank you for your support of the men and women that volunteer tirelessly to make the National Day of Prayer a reality!

You can join us and meet these volunteers at our National Day of Prayer Leadership Summit on October 29-30.

I believe one of the most encouraging biblical principles we discover through reading the Scripture is that prayer always precedes great things.

Do you believe this? Do you pray like you believe this?

Prayer Always Precedes

Consider this brief list of moments when this biblical principle is illustrated throughout the Scriptures:

  • Prayer preceded Abraham being called to a land where he did not know where he was going.
  • Prayer preceded Moses experiencing the glory of God in his life.
  • Prayer preceded Joshua seeing the sun stand still and the moon stop.
  • Prayer preceded David defeating his enemies.
  • Prayer preceded Jabez having his requests answered by the Lord.
  • Prayer preceded Daniel receiving the power and insight to interpret dreams.
  • Prayer preceded Elizabeth having her baby boy, John.
  • Prayer preceded Zechariah prophetically declaring that his and Elizabeth’s boy, who we know as John the Baptist, would one day prepare the way of the Lord.
  • Prayer preceded Mary understanding that God had miraculously placed His Son in her womb.
  • Prayer preceded Jesus seeing the heavens open up, the Holy Spirit descend upon Him, and God declaring aloud that Jesus was His Son and He was pleased with Him.
  • Prayer preceded Jesus being arrested, beaten, flogged, and crucified, dying in our place.
  • Prayer preceded the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church on the day of Pentecost.
  • Prayer preceded the explosion of the gospel on the day of Pentecost and the gospel advance that would follow.
  • Prayer preceded evangelism and the Lord adding to the church daily.
  • Prayer preceded the preaching and teaching of God’s Word and fellowship of God’s people.
  • Prayer preceded the demonstrative works of God that occurred through the early church.
  • Prayer preceded the appointment and sending of leaders, and the planting of gospel churches.
  • Prayer preceded the words Paul wrote to the churches he poured his life into as a missionary and preacher of the gospel.
  • Prayer preceded John in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day on the island of Patmos and receiving the messages of God to the seven churches of the Revelation.

These are just a few instances of how prayer preceded so many great things that occurred in the Scriptures.

Great Things

Do you want to see God do great things in and through your life?

Do you want to see God do great things in your marriage and through your children?

Do you want to see God do great things in your church?

Do you want to see God do great things through your career?

Do you want to see God do great things through your finances?

Do you want to see God do great things in times of need in your life?

Do you want to see God do great things in our nation and around the world?

Do you want to see God revive His church and awaken America?

Do you want to see God use you to advance His gospel and His causes?

Then Pray

When you prioritize the importance of prayer in your life, you will begin to see God do great things in and through your life. It is not about your age or stage in life; nor is it about your location or vocation. It is about your commitment to prayer in your life.

Do you know why?

It is a biblical principle that has been verified not only in the Bible, but throughout history.

Prayer always precedes great things.
